Ergon Grip – with German made compound from 2012!
09.11.2011
We have optimised the compound used in the Performance Comfort Grip series. The new material meets the highest standards set for environmental impact, and for the purity (cleanliness) of the material. It is also harder wearing and exclusive to Ergon.
Alongside research into ergonomics undertaken by Ergon product developers, the team also intensively researches materials — looking for the perfect mix of product life and performance. The result is that Ergon tests to, and matches the standards demanded in automotive construction. Ergonomics, Design and Engineering — everything done in house — everything done in Germany. The results are clear to see, from innovative materials such as those in the BioKork series, and environmentally friendly packaging such as that which is the result of the GreenLab initiative.
In 2011 there was a significant turning point, hidden within the finer details of our product range. All grips in the Performance Comfort series were given a new and improved grip compound. Finding the correct mixture was not simple. Over 39 different compounds were formulated and tested. The effort paid off. The new material, made in Germany, meets the toughest possible standards, is harder wearing, and is exclusive to Ergon for the bicycle industry. Through a cooperation with the SGS Institute in Fresenius, and the German Government TÜV Saarland testing facilities, the materials were fully tested and passed all standards set for dangerous materials.
The facts:
• Developed and Manufactured in Germany
• Material purity certified by SGS-TÜV GmbH
• Extremely high UV resistance - corresponds to automotive standards
• Contaminant Free - Only medically approved 'white oil' used in production
• All raw materials meet the standards set for use in food production - EU (2002/72/EG)
• All raw materials meet the purity standards of European Resolution AP(89)1
• Free of PAK - no Phthalates used in production
• Highest quality standard within the bicycle industry
