Allowing nearly 300 riders to compete in the 100-mile race, the Bailey HUNDO course features a pure Colorado mountain experience. Starting with 50 miles of singletrack on the Colorado Trail, then finishing with 50 miles of dirt roads, the Bailey HUNDO is course which favors the well-skilled mountain biker.

Competing for Topeak-Ergon USA were Sonya Looney and Jeff Kerkove. Both were no strangers to this event. Sonya has won the event multiple times, and Jeff as competed strongly in previous editions of the event. Starting at a very early 6 AM from downtown Bailey, Colorado, riders set off on what would be a 7+ hour day on the bike. The riders would have on-course support from team partner, Primal Wear.

Jeff rode strong in the Top 10 all day. Sonya was riding just as strong, in the Top 20 of the entire race field. The results would prove positive!

Sonya after crossing the finish line, “I rode the smartest I ever have in a race with the perfect pacing from start to finish. After being at sea level for many weeks, the altitude actually limited my ability to push hard on the bike so my legs never felt tired. I really wanted that 3rd win at the Bailey HUNDO and to feel good on my bike so all my goals were met!”

Jeff following his event, “ I had my best Bailey HUNDO today. I paced it just right. I did loose some gas in the last 25 miles and drop 2 spots, but overall I rode well over the 100 miles. The HUNDO is such a great event!”

Next stops for the riders included races in Breckenridge, CO, Crested Butte, CO, and a stage race in Mongolia

Results
Sonya Looney, 1st, Pro Women
Jeff Kerkove, 8th, Pro Men
